Amateurs Win Gov. John A. Burns Challenge Cup

Congratulations to the amateurs who beat the pros for the fourth year in a row at the Gov. John A. Burns Challenge Cup, a Ryder Cup style tournament that was played at Mid-Pac Country Club.  The majority of the amateur team was composed of HSJGA members: Rudy Cabalar, Lorens Chan, Aaron Kunitomo and Seung Jae Maeng.  HSJGA alumni include TJ Kua, Matthew Ma and David Saka.

Congratulations HSJGA Alumnus Alex Ching!  Ching shot an amazing 12 under par — 201- -  during three rounds at the 2010 Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic in El Paso, Texas sealing first place.  Ching, a junior at the University of San Diego, is from Honolulu.

Alumni Anna Jang & Britney Yada were paired together in the final round of the Turtle Bay College Invitational today.  Anna plays for Princeton and Britney plays for Portland State.  Have fun and good luck girls!

Other news: Alina Ching of Honolulu was the only female to qualify for matchplay and finished at #17.  We’re all proud of Alina for such a wonderful accomplishment!
