The HSJGA was recently honored by a very generous $6,000 donation from the Elsie and Aluma Chun Family Foundation ! The HSJGA is a 501c3 and depends on the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporate sponsorships. All of the opportunities afforded to the HSJGA Junior Membership would not be possible without the support from friends like the Elsie and Aluma Chun Family Foundation!
Thank you for your generous support of the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association!
Under the sponsorship of the Honolulu Advertiser, one $1,500 college scholarship will be awarded to a Hawai‘i high school senior or college student from Hawai‘i at the conclusion of the 2009-2010 school year. It will be named in honor of Monte Ito, the late Advertiser sportswriter. This scholarship will recognize outstanding achievement or potential in journalism and golf, and an appreciation of both.
The scholarship will be awarded to a student who, in the opinion of the judges, submits the best essay illustrating a passion for journalism and golf. Examples of published work can also be submitted to enhance an entry.
The competition is open to seniors expecting to graduate from any Hawai‘i high school at the conclusion of the 2009-2010 school year, or current college students from Hawai‘i who have at least one year of school remaining. Entrants need not be planning to major in journalism.
