The 2012 Aloha Section PGA Foundation scholarship application is now available.

The purpose of the Aloha Section PGA Foundation Scholarship Program is to encourage and promote the attainment of higher educational goals for Hawaii high school seniors and current college students who have actively participated in the game of golf and have excelled in their academic achievements.
The Aloha Section PGA Foundation Scholarship is designed to award one-year educational scholarships. The amount of the scholarships will be determined by the availability of funds. Determination of award winners will be made by the Aloha Section PGA Scholarship Committee.

RE: Scholarship Opportunity
The Aloha Section PGA Foundation is pleased to announce its scholarship application is now available for high school seniors and current college students. We will be awarding one-year educational scholarships to outstanding individuals who have excelled in their academic achievements. The amount of scholarships will be determined by the availability of funds and amount of applicants.
The Aloha Section PGA Foundation is also pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity for one high school senior to be eligible for a $20,000 scholarship to Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This award is a $5,000 per year discount on the tuition at Methodist University.
Applications for the Scholarships must be returned to the Aloha Section PGA by Friday, March 25, 2011 at 5:00 PM (receipt date, not postmark date).

David S. Ishii Foundation / Yasuko Asada Memorial
College Scholarship Fund

Grant Amount: 2 at $4,000 each (1 boy and 1 girl)
Checks of $1,000 to be made payable to awardee and school each year that recipient attends, for a total of 4 years. Verification of student status will be required each year.
Purpose: To encourage and promote the attainment of higher educational goals for members of high school golf teams in the State of Hawaii who have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement during high school.
Eligibility Process:
• Applicants must plan to graduate high school in the academic school year 2010-2011 and must be an active member of a high school golf team in the State of Hawaii.
• Plan to attend college full-time (i.e. 12 or more hours in a course of study leading to a baccalaureate (4 year) degree at an accredited college or university located within the United States.
• Maintain a 2.0 GPA and send the David S. Ishii Foundation proof of continuation of college education.
Selection Process:
• Financial need may be considered.
• Applicants must submit a short essay (no longer than 250 words) about the influence of “golf” in his/her life.
Application Process (Six steps):
1. Complete application with certified copy of your high school transcript with SAT scores.
2. Attach copy of essay.
3. Attach letters of recommendation.
4. Obtain Athletic Director’s signature on application.
5. Submit completed application, essay and transcript to:

We would like to congratulate Ryan Kuroiwa of Aiea for being awarded the 2010 Homecare & Hospice First Tee Open exemption at Pebble Beach (August 30-September 5)! Girl’s Travel Stipend Application Instructions
Any girl or woman golfer from Hawaii who has represented Hawaii in a USGA championship may apply for a travel stipend from the Hawaii State Women’s Golf Foundation.
- If you are a junior golfer*, submit this application after you have played in the championship.
- If you are not a junior golfer, this form and the Application for Reimbursement of Tournament Expenses available for download from the USGA website (www.usga.org) should be submitted to:

- Use a separate application for each stipend you apply.
- The deadline for submitting all applications is September 30th of each year. Each application will be reviewed by the grant committee and submitted to the Board of Directors for approval at the Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors held in October.
- Upon approval, HSWGF Travel stipends awarded to junior golfers will be sent directly to them.
- Upon approval, HSWGF Travel stipends awarded to those who are not junior golfers will be sent to the Hawaii State Golf Association and they will send checks to the recipients accordingly.
*A junior golfer is an amateur golfer who has not reached (1) the September following graduation from secondary school, or (2) her 19th birthday, whichever comes first.

DAVID S. ISHII FOUNDATION
Junior Golf Travel Stipend for Boys –U.S. Junior Amateur
Purpose:
To encourage and provide financial aid for qualifiers to the U.S. JUNIOR AMATEUR. The Foundation emphasizes the importance of etiquette, integrity, responsibility, and fair play – values that make golf the special game that we know, love and learn from throughout our lives.
Eligibility Process:
- Open to all male Junior Golfers who qualify to play in the U.S. Junior Amateur
- Resident of the State of Hawaii
- Must be an upstanding citizen of the community
Amount of Award:
- Not to exceed $500 per qualifier
Application Process: receipt
- Complete application
- Enclose a copy of the completed Tournament Entry Form
- Mail in as soon as possible
Selection Process:
- Sectional qualifying results
- Tournament Participation

All recipients must turn in a written report within thirty days of the tournament completion. This report should include the tournament experience, personal results and a summary of expenses.
